Property overview
Set in 400 acres of the beautiful County Down countryside, Clanwilliam Estate is easily accessible from both Belfast and Dublin International airports, proximate to some of the best golf on the Island, and offers unique service from a personal butler who has many years experience in looking after the British Royal Family, and many world leaders and Heads of State. A wonderfully restored Georgian mansion with significant history, until recently was a family home. Magnificent art, and carefully chosen antique furniture are found throughout the property, and the owner of the estate, personally ensures that each visitor is welcomed as a special guest.
Accommodation
Clanwilliam Estate offers nine tastefully decorated deluxe bedrooms, sleeping up to 18 adults. Each room has an opulent feel and a spacious ensuite, making them the perfect haven in which to unwind after a busy day. All of the rooms offer stunning views including those of the lake, the surrounding woodlands or the gardens.
Location
Co. Down is all about its immense array of natural surroundings. The greatest of these are the Mourne Mountains, which spread across the southeast portion of the county, from Carlingford Lough to Dundrum Bay, and culminating in the highest point in Northern Ireland atop Slieve Donard, a whopping 849 metres up. The Mournes have been proposed as the first National Park in Northern Ireland and walking through the craggy, granite hillsides, you might encounter the lonely Mourne Wall, a 35-km long stone wall built around the turn of the 20th century to define the local catchment area. Strangford Lough is another place of incredible natural beauty in Co. Down being a popular place for both birding and scuba diving. The Mount Stewart House and Gardens is a beautiful 18th century, neoclassical manor estate situated on the eastern shore of the lake.
