Today the river flows through Cork city in two main channels so that you find yourself constantly crossing bridges and hence Cork City's coat of arms bears the motto 'A Safe Harbour for Ships'.
South of Cork city you will find the picturesque seaside town of Kinsale. Its colourful buildings, beautiful location, mild climate and abundance of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars make it a must-visit destination on any trip to the south of the country. The many top-end, quality restaurants in the town means that it is known as the ‘gourmet capital of Ireland’ and it even has its own Gourmet Food Festival. Of course, in order to win over the locals, always order a pint of Murphy’s over Guinness. That’s the quickest way into any Southern Ireland persons heart.
