Property overview

Ballintemple Castle is a Grade A listed historical building originally designed in 1836 by architect George Papworth of Dublin. The Castle has been lovingly restored and sympathetically decorated to reflect the original gothic style. A perfect venue for bringing together family and friends for a truly unique luxury experience.

Accommodation

The upstairs living quarters comprise of a master suite with Superking four poster bed, private dressing room and spiral staircase leading to your own two storey bathroom all located in the easterly castle turret. Three further Kingsize bedrooms with four poster beds and a lounge room with expansive views of the Estate complete the upper storey. The grand drawing room and dining room at ground level have open fireplaces and adjoin the circular turret library.

Location

Known as the "Orchard County" because of the numerous apple orchards scattered around its hundreds of acres. While it's true that Armagh suffered devastations during The Troubles, it has arrived into the 21st century with an incredible stock of historical places, including some of the most important religious sites in Ireland. Although it is small, Armagh Town was founded by Ireland's patron saint, St. Patrick, in the mid-400s, when he erected the principal seat of Christianity at St. Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral. To boot, the remains of Brian Boru, the most important High King of Ireland, are at rest here. Co. Armagh's countryside is a lumbering series of drumlins, flanked to the north by Lough Neagh – one of Ireland's largest lakes – and rising in the south to the 573-metre apex of Slieve Gullion, the highest point in the county.
